OUR HISTORY

TRADITION AND MODERNITY

The success of LA BAGAGERIE is based not only on the quality of its leather goods, but also on the prestigious locations of its Parisian shops, Tronchet, Passy, Four… Each shop has a warm, refined decoration, mixing classic, design and chic atmosphere thanks to the use of beautiful materials like wood. Everything has been done to create practical and dynamic sales areas. The new, very pure colours of the furniture, white, yellow ceruse with touches of brushed stainless steel, are a sign of modernity and conviviality. LA BAGAGERIE is continuing its rise in the provinces with the opening of new stores in Nantes and Nice, in addition to the existing stores. The refined style and the French chic of LA BAGAGERIE bags, seduce beyond our borders and the will of the company has always been to spread our brand abroad. We have been established in Japan for more than 40 years where our brand is well known and distributed by our partner and distributor SCHICATA with great success in more than 50 outlets.

LEATHERWORKING SKILLS

The creation of our different collections of bags and luggage is carried out by a team of stylists in our offices in Saint Germain des Près. Our manufacturing workshops, with their recognized hand-made know-how after many years of collaboration, develop our prototypes. To be validated, they must imperatively respect the codes of the house: demanding skins, passion for detail and aestheticism. Our network of “premium” boutiques throughout France allows us to put our leather goods know-how into practice thanks to our qualified sales staff, who are always ready to listen to and serve our customers.

KEY DATES

1954

It was in 1954 that Jean MARLAIX, creator of the brand, opened the first boutique “LA BAGAGERIE”, a 20m² space located on the Champs Elysées. A journalist from VOGUE was the first to be enthusiastic about Jean MARLAIX’s creations and had one of his models photographed. The same year, Brigitte BARDOT, famous French actress, wears a ferret hunting bag in the film “Babette s’en va -t- en guerre”. From then on, the brand was a dazzling success and the company “LA BAGAGERIE” never stopped growing…

90’s

In the 1990s, Frédéric MARLAIX took over from his father, modernized the brand and rejuvenated certain product lines. His ambition is to seduce a younger, more sophisticated clientele. He therefore surrounded himself with a team of stylists and created two collections per year, more creative, more up to date, whose exclusive models are the property of LA BAGAGERIE. 50 new products complete an already attractive collection each season.

2008

Frédéric MARLAIX loves the world of fashion and its codes, so he naturally called on a renowned stylist Gaspard YURKIEVICH. Together they developed a line of bags called BAGGY, in 2008 and 2009. The following year, Zoé Felix, French actress, will become the muse and the new face of LA BAGAGERIE, for 2 seasons.

2014

LA BAGAGERIE celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2014, 60 years of creation for an ever more demanding, elegant, and active woman.

2015

In 2015, the PARIS SAINT GERMAIN FOOTBALL CLUB signed an official licensing agreement with the company. This is a natural fit for two brands that share an attachment to Paris and a competitive spirit pushing them to reach the level of the best. Frédéric MARLAIX takes care above all LA BAGAGERIE’s image by respecting the know-how and the demand for quality and perfection of the materials chosen for the elaboration of his bags.
